16 hours in the air

Hello! So here I am, finally on my way! I'm still en route to Taipei, where I will spend about 4 hours before I pick up the next flight to Bangkok. From Bangkok I have a flight to Phuket, where upon landing I wlil try and find a taxi as fast as possible and get to the hostel so I can SLEEP!

Seriously I have never been on a flight this long and I feel like I might go crazy! Between the long hours of not moving and the very little sleep I am running on, I'm slightly delusinal and going a little crazy! I get up like every 2 hours and just pace around the plane while all the other passangers (mostly older, Asian people heading home from a vacation in the US, that's my best guess at least!) sleep comfortably.  I think I might have slept a little bit but I don't know if it was just dozing or not hahaha at this point it is hard to say.  There's a total of about three other Americans on this flight and I have felt like I am in a foreign country from the moment I stepped into the terminal at JFK that holds all the Asian airlines. We're flying west obviously so we are flying with the night, which means it's been dark for literally EVER! My body clock tells me it's morning but it's actually like 9pm in the timezone I will be entering... Although it will be 4 am when I land in Taipei... it's kind of confusing with all the time change and stuff.

I am so excited!!!! When my mom dropped me off at the airport I almost had a mini freak out where I was basically like WHAT am I doing?!?!? In that moment I would have loved nothing more than to make my mother turn around and pick me up and take me home.  It would have been easy to do that while I was still in Portland, but I soon as I caught that first fllight there was no going back!  I thought that was really going to freak me out but honestly I felt a huuuuge sense of calm once I reached New York, and even more so when the flight to Taipei took off.  It's very relaxing to travel alone, once you're gone there's truly nothing to worry about except yourself.  I was really suprised how the panick just melted away once I had taken off.  So anyways, so far so good! Let's hope all goes smoothly in Taipei and Bangkok and I'm reallllyyy hoping my luggage doesn't get lost.... I'll update more later!
