Another piece of good news is that my best friend Nellie LaValle also received the same scholarship I did! We will be going to New York together for the AFS orientation, then fly to Rome together, but from there we will be separated when we go to our host families. I won't see her for the rest of the 6 months we spend in Italy, but it's exciting that I will be sharing a similar experience (or a completely different one) with someone I'm so close to!
